Karen Childers, Advisory Board Member

Karen retired from public education in 2016 after serving 36 years.   She taught first and second graders in various Texas school districts including Midlothian ISD for 24 years.  She spent the last 12 years of her career as Principal of Mt. Peak Elementary in Midlothian ISD.  Her goals were to always do what was right by students and to lead her staff by example!  She gives credit for any success in her career by having wonderful personal and professional mentors who lead and helped her along the way.

Karen was born and raised in Dallas, Texas.

She attended NTSU (now UNT) where she met her husband, Bryan.  She has a beautiful daughter, a wonderful son-in-law, and two adorable grandsons.

Karen started mentoring with Mentor Care after her retirement in 2016.  She says it is a way she can continue giving back to Midlothian ISD, the district she loves so much, and to keep working and helping students reach their goals.
